There is the opportunity for students to have their own room but this is based on availability and comes at additional charge.

7.     Does Dwight offer ESL?

DIS does offer ESL for any student that requires assistance improving their English proficiency. We have designed the “Bridge” Program specifically for students who are not ready to study fully in English, and to allow them time to adapt to Canadian curriculum. We have several ESL teachers in our Quest Centre that are available for individual or group lessons.

Yes, there are several students who wish to develop their talents on a specific instrument at DIS. We have arranged for private lessons on campus by highly trained music teachers. Currently we arrange lessons for: piano, flute, violin, and guitar.

 9.     Which language programmes does Dwight offer?

Students are able to take Spanish and French as additional languages. For students whose second language is English, they are encouraged to take Self-taught, which is a class that is solely in their native tongue to ensure that they keep up with their abilities. This includes Persian, Korean, Chinese, and Japanese.

 10.    What are the minimum requirements to be accepted at Dwight?

We focus on students’ commitment and motivation to excel in their studies, rather than a specific score. With assessment ranging from school to school, we take a thorough look at the entire transcript and teachers comments on the student to decide their acceptance. We encourage all to apply, as DIS is a school that has a priority to foster each individuals “spark of genius”. We do require an English proficiency test for all international students to assess their English ability and create a program suited for the individual. Due to our comprehensive ESL programme and support, we can accept individuals with a range of English ability.
